Lengua Cufflinks in Sterling Silver

The Lengua Cufflinks are sculptural .925 sterling silver cufflinks, made by hand in our workshop in Taxco, Guerrero, Mexico.

They belong to our Lengua Collection, inspired by the universal language of communication. Each face reinterprets the tongue — a symbol we found throughout pre-Hispanic codices, where it stands for speech, knowledge and human connection.

We kept them quiet. No stone, no ornament: one clean form in polished silver, closed with a swivel back. They read as a detail rather than a statement, which is the point of a cufflink.

Each face is built using cartoneado, a technique Taxco has practiced for generations: sterling sheet is die-stamped, then soldered by hand into a hollow form. It's why they sit light on a cuff instead of dragging it.

They make a good gift. They're also a good reason not to wait for one.

Care

Silver is a living material and will develop a patina over time. Polish with a silver cloth to bring back the shine, or leave the patina if you prefer the darker tone. Store them dry.

Questions

Are they solid silver? The silver is .925 throughout. The faces are hollow-formed using cartoneado, a traditional Taxco technique — die-stamped sterling sheet, soldered by hand — which is what keeps them light on the cuff.

Do they fit a standard French cuff? Yes. The swivel back turns flat to pass through the buttonholes and locks upright once it's through.

Do they come in a box? Yes, every pair ships in our case, ready to give.
